They were keeping tabs on Flask and so the name of the town would show up. Plus early on, most of the non-topsider colonies were scavenging for food and the occasional person the topsiders got, they would remove any information from their brain, plasticize the brain and use it in a van or gun or what ever. they were using the recycled brains because for some reason they were having trouble making computer chips. (Please note during the “Milk trial” most of the radio/TV equipment shown used tubes which would survive an elector-impulse where silicon chips will not)
Don’t remember when but, early in the story line, the top-siders did try and nuke Endtown. They drilled and let off a blast but due to some deception technology Dr. Mallard created, the blast was outside the range were it would have done damage.Of course, after Wally and Holly got out of Endtown, they might have signaled that the last attempt by the topsiders missed.
