I just finished watching ESPN’s “30 for 30” documentary “The Luckiest guy in the World” about him. Walton was such a fascinating individual. Ultra-competitive, but so gracious when the competition was done. Dealing with all of his medical issues and keeping (almost always) such a positive outlook. An excellent example for all.
I was lucky enough to get his autograph in 1986; he was kind and gracious to this (then) 22 year old. Wish I still had that signature…
Trump’s lawyers delayed and delayed. Why is that? To coordinate with his campaign, knowing his followers could be milked for even more $$$ to “save him”? A gamble that any verdict would help his campaign?
Trump ran for the GOP nomination knowing this result was a possibility. The GOP primary voters voted for him knowing this result was a possibility. Now, the argument seems to be, “well, he’s a candidate for president, therefore cannot be held accountable”. If the goal is the presidency, in their own words they’ll achieve it BECAUSE of this result that has them so enraged. So what’s the problem?
To an extent, I understand his victory in 2016: there was a backlash by many who felt ignored by the elites; he faced an opponent who, for whatever reason, was the source of a venom I have not seen in 40+ years of watching presidential politics and also ran a lousy campaign; and people believed that he was a successful businessman.
How that translates into NEW support is very hard to understand. He is only concerned with Donald Trump and cares for people only in as much as they are of use to him. And when you’re not of use, buh-bye. (Just ask Freedom Caucus head Rep. Bob Good (VA) among dozens of others.) His own words & actions should condemn him to the ash heap of history, yet here we are. SMH.
Yet, when you read “your fascist attempts at bullying” it’s a natural conclusion, no? If I say “your intelligent response is…” am I not describing you as intelligent? In my opinion, you offer a distinction without a difference.
Leaving your comment out of the mix, you did not answer my question regarding the correlation between civility and a drop in a candidate’s polling numbers. Does your claim apply to Trump or not? Do you recognize that his m.o. for years is simply attacking his opponent (whether Democrat or Republican)? Why does he have any popularity if what you state is true?
I agree with the desire for not resorting to ad hominem attacks, but I am curious: why doesn’t the same apply to Trump and his supporters’ comments? I mean is “billopfer” REALLY a fascist? Is Judge Merchan REALLY the devil? Can we expect a corresponding drop in Trump poll numbers?
Although that is disturbing, many people have that desire. The problem is that too many citizens are OK with him being that and provide him with resources that make it possible.
And when Kyle Rittenhouse and George Zimmerman were acquitted for actions that cost lives, the right knowingly advised, “the jury had its say; you must accept the jury’s verdict.”
Signed checks by a horrible businessman proving his guilt and it’s proof that the whole system is corrupt.
I have read that most cases of this type end in some type of probation especially for a first time offender (well, convicted offender). That seems likely here.
