I taught reading for 28 years, from pre-K to college at different points, and was always proud of what I was doing, except when I stood in line at the grocery store and read the front of those tabloids. Made me wonder in how many cases the reading ability I worked so hard to develop was wasted on that nonsense.

I’m old enough to remember Mad Magazines take on that rag, they called it The National Perspirerer. A good description of trump as he sweats through this criminal trial.

Funny, but it conflates the Enquirer and the World Weekly News. The Enquirer is a scandal sheet/gossip rag (and GOP propaganda outlet), but they stopped doing Elvis/Alien/Bigfoot stories almost half a century ago (when they started printing in color, with a glossy cover).

When I was a kid (way back in the 60’s and 70’s), my babysitter used to read The Enquirer. It was such a weird magazine! Gotta love Bat Boy!
