Tin-soldiers and Nixon’s coming …(May 4th will always be Kent State day in my heart)

This is one of a few pictures that I’ll never forget.

One might think that the various folks in charge would remember Kent State and how it went wrong. But I’m afraid that one is an optimist.

I heard that girl was only 14.

I stand behind the National Guard, standing in front of them can be deadly.

The Army National Guard is not what it was 50 years ago. It is not a hideout for the scions of the rich and powerful to get out of being drafted and sent off to a war. National Guard units were activated and sent off to fight in shrubs wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Exactly what I’ve been thinking since I started seeing police on campus.

Kent State is a Republican wet dream.

This image makes me hear the lyrics to “Ohio” in my head—but what’s actually happening is quite different.

I’m old enough to remember the image shown here on the “Nightly News” – contextually, I remember the reports that the National Guard were told not to fire unless fired upon – and THIS photograph shows how well those orders were carried out – unfortunately the troops were as young and as “green” as the student – what happened last night on the Columbia campus between the N.Y.P.D. and the students occupying the building on campus is what’s supposed to happen – using the military against students (or even people “illegally” entering the country) is NEVER a good idea…

The military is almost never trained OR equipped to deal with “PROTEST”…

The one time I saw my picture in the newspaper (The Denver Post) was when I participated in a demonstration protesting the Kent State murders…

Most of the protesters back then were students. A lot of them today are anarchists just out to stir up chaos.

Anybody know the name of that young man who was shot and killed? I just want to know for personal reference.

Ohio (Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young song. Today we don’t need the Nation Guard as the Police are as well-armed as them.

“This summer I hear the calling, four dead in Ohio” Remeber it like it was yesterday.

I remember this picture very well. If we don’t remember Kent State that horrific moment could/willl come again.
